It is hard to choose and it isn't always the same. When i red the books first time i loved Frodo, after that Merry and Pippin, when i was high school i loved Eowyn and Faramir and so on and so on.... Today my favourite character is Aragorn but tomorrow it can be Gandalf. I love them all.

I agree with Windrider about that scene where Pippin lights the Beacon. That is fantastic and beautiful and also pretty funny. Same reason actually. There are so many characters in the book that peter jackson thought that no one who hasn't red the books can follow the plot. I missed Tom too! But the movies are already three hours long so they couldn't fill him in.
