What if Saruman had repented of his evil deeds and joined forces with Rohan and Gondor in the fight against Mordor. Also; instead of defending Osgiliath and losing many lives in the foolish attempt of retaking it, Gondor pulled safely back to within the walls of Minas Tirith. Orthanc marches with their host of Uruk Hai and reinforce Minas Tirith (Along with Saruman himself).

These forces join together in an attempt to hold out against the oncoming horde.

(Boromir has not died, and the Elvin host joins there as well. (Including Elrond, Glorfindel, and any other worthy white-council members/ elves capable of assisting. Aragorn, Gimili, and Legolas are there as well.)

Two different scenarios:

Rohan joins Gondor, and Orthanc forces within the walls, or remain out of sight to "plow" into the side of the Mordor forces after they have set upon the city. (Possibly countering Grond.)

Have at it! Smile

All orcs (including the Uruk Hai) are evil, they could not be trusted to help overthrow the shadow when it is shadows that they desire.
If, however, Saruman had repented and joined once more with the forces of good, it probably would have helped a great deal.

You cant repent for your evil deeds, Saruman is too wise to repent to the guy who invented time ie Gandalf so why should he??????? if i remember correctly he stole shadowfax did he not?????? if you read the old old scrolls theres a part in there that says that Saruman told Gandalf when he left him jailed in Orthanc that you can jail me as long as time holds but killing him would be impossible. there alot more conversation between Gandalf and Saruman before he left Orthanc that day. alot more. Saruman is the ruler of the White Hand and the ultimate power that subsides.
