Gandalf talks about the rings power to command (although he is speaking of it's power to control the other ring bearers).
Boromir refers specifically to the rings `power of command`
Frodo commands gollum that if he touches him again he will be cast into the fire.
Gollum takes the ring from Frodo and `falls` into the fire.
Therefore the ring destroyed itself, Frodo having turned the `power of command` against it.
The ending bothered me until now.
